Cedar Park, TX – The words “skinny dipping” may take on new meaning this holiday season as women discover a versatile skin-care product that can help them moisturize the dry skin that inevitably becomes more prevalent during the fall and winter months. Featuring all-natural ingredients like cosmetic-grade soy, shea butter, cocoa butter, avocado butter and vitamin E, the Skinny Dip Candle, by Scents of Décor, Inc., is a body moisturizer, massage oil, and candle in one.
As the holiday season approaches, so too comes drier air as folks crank up their furnaces, light their fireplaces, and spend more time indoors during the holidays and winter months. That means dry, itchy, and rough skin for many women, especially those already prone to dryness.
Seeking effective solutions for her own dry skin frustrations, Scents of Décor founder, Karen Porter, created a body balm made from cosmetic ingredients long known to provide effective body care results. Natural ingredients like shea butter, cocoa butter, avocado butter, and cosmetic-grade soy provided the emollient care she was seeking. The idea of wicking a product to melt into a warm lotion came later. After much research and testing in 2004, the end result was the Skinny Dip Candle, the brand that has since matured into a line of 19 Skinny Dip fragrances.
Because they are made from cosmetic ingredients instead of traditional candle wax, Skinny Dip Candles burn at just 101 degrees, making them warm, not hot, when the flame is extinguished. Porter adds, “The lotion is very emollient, so a little goes a long way. It’s great on cuticles, elbows, heels, dry hands, and anywhere the skin is dry. Even though the lotion is very rich, it completely absorbs into the skin within a matter of minutes.”
Customer and retailer enthusiasm has led to expanded production, new labels and, additional scents – just in time for the 2006 holiday season. Of new scents added, seven are essential oil blends, bringing the total of Skinny Dips that are entirely all- natural up to a full dozen. Skinny Dip Candles are also available in Bare Naked (unscented), as well as in an additional six scents that are lightly fragranced with man-made fragrance.
One loyal “Skinny Dipper,” customer Jan Jacobs, adds: “I first was attracted by the clever name, and then fell in love with the scents. I really got hooked when I found out that the product really works. They’ve become my trademark gift.”
Skinny Dip Candles can be purchased for $11.95 on www.SkinnyDipCandle.com. The line is also sold in gift shops, spas, and salons.
